What are Indian Muslims Fears under Narendra Modi's 2nd Term ?

What are Indian Muslims Fears under Narendra Modi's 2nd Term ?

Following the victory of Moody's Party Janata Party BJP in the recent Indian elections, Muslims in India are trying to find out the ways to deal with this new reality.

There are fears in the minds of the Indian Muslims that they would now be further marginalized in the Indian society. They believe that now they will be further pushed against the wall and the only way for them to survive is to push back. All the Indian minorities including Muslims fear that the BJP with Hindu nationalist agenda would surely affect the Indian secular fabrics.

Attacks on Muslims have increased since the Moody came to power under the garb of cow protection by the Hindus. More than hundred Muslims have been killed during the last four years on the suspicion of slaughtering a cow or even just eating a Beef.

Those who killed all the Muslims were not punished and the police intentionally delayed the investigation on the fear of rhetoric from the ruling party, which may have incited the mob violence. It's not just the Muslims, but many Indians also fear from the right-wing Hindu nationalists because they start to target anyone who disagrees with them. Many of the Indian Muslims said that they don't feel safe once they are travelling to the other towns.

Back in 2014, Narendra Modi was elected on the premise that he was a champion of minorities but later on once he put the hardline the Nationalists on his key post made this claim false. The chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath in 2017, expressed his views about making the India as a Hindu state. It is important to note that Utter Pradesh has almost 40 million Muslims.

Similarly the Amit Shah the Moody's right hand and the  BJP president called the Bangladeshi Muslim migrants as infiltrators, and the termites and he promised to remove every single infiltrator from the country except Buddha, Hindus, and Sikhs.

Paragya Singh Thakur who has been recently elected as parliamentarian under the flag of BJP is also facing the terrorism charges connected to the bomb attack on Muslims several years ago. The Indian Muslims consider all these people dangerous who are running the India.

While the Narendra Modi's own track record in terms of protecting the Muslim is not very good as when he assumed the power in Gujarat as chief minister back in 2001 the state was rocked by the rights in which more than thousand Muslims were killed. The Moody was criticized for not doing enough to halt that violence and the US State Department also denied a visa to moody in 2005 over the same issue . These are the fears among the Indian Muslims and they believe that once the Hindu extremists come into the power they can do anything and nobody can stop them because they enjoy the political patronage.

Based on the previous track record of last 5 years of the BJP, the Muslims believe that in the coming next 5 years of Narendra Modi's regime they would not be secure and they are worried about their next generation and their safety. After the victory of BJP in the recent elections the prominent Muslim leaders wrote a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which they urged the prime minister to show some confidence-building measures for the Muslims.

Narendra Modi's government during the last tenure issued an ordinance against the Triple Talaq; although, they could not get it passed from the Rajas during the last tenure. However on June 12th of this year Moody's government have shown their intent to get it passed from the current Lok Sabha.

As part of the confidence-building measures the moody in the present regime has announced around 50 million scholarships for the Muslim students; nevertheless, the sections of the Sangh Parivaar are not happy with these actions. They believe that the recommendations of Sachar Panel are fabricated and they were essentially made because the Muslims wanted to get the concessions.

Indian Muslims are scared because they are being lynched and shot for eating beef and they have been told to go back to Pakistan. They are being mocked on having a Muslim name or wearing a prayer cap and they have been forced to shout the slogans in favor of the Hindu gods.

According to the Sachar Panel report, the conditions of the Indian Muslims are even worse than the Dalits.  The Indian government needs to take the confidence-building measures and stop the cow vigilante in order to make the Muslims feel safer in India.
